The BC College of Teachers (the College) is committed to protecting, through responsible information management practices, the privacy of people whose personal information is held by the College. Any personal information provided to the College is collected, used and disclosed in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPP Act) or other applicable legislation.

Personal information

Personal information is collected, used, disclosed and retained by this website under the authority of the FOIPP Act or other relevant legislation. Personal information will only be used by authorized staff to fulfill the purpose for which it was originally collected, for a use consistent with that purpose unless you expressly consent otherwise, or for purposes consistent with the Teaching Profession Act, the FOIPP Act and other legislation and laws. We do not disclose your information to other public bodies or individuals except as authorized by the FOIPP Act.

Safeguards in place

The College is obliged to protect your personal information by making reasonable security arrangements against such risks as unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure or disposal. Security measures have been integrated into the design and implementation of the College's website as part of the College's continuing commitment to the protection of personal information it holds.

Links to other sites

Visitors should be aware that the College's website may include links to websites operated by other agencies, non-profit organizations and private businesses. When you link to another site, this Privacy Statement will not apply; however, you may be subject to the Privacy Policy of the new site. The College is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites, and does not necessarily endorse the content of external websites.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file stored on your computer by your web browser when using some Internet sites. A cookie file can contain information such as a user ID that the site uses to track the pages you've visited, but the only personal information a cookie can contain is information that you supply yourself. A cookie cannot read data off your hard drive.

Parts of the College website may use session variables, which do not store personal information but do help you move around our website, and are valid only during the time you are actually using the website.
