Retirement
Certificate holders who will be newly retired as of July 1 and who will be
non-practising and receiving a pension related to teaching in BC must declare, by June 30, their
retired status online. Alternatively,
members can complete a Non-Practising Undertaking Form (Retired) and mail it
to the College. The annual
certificate fee is $0 for retired certificate holders on pension.
If you will be non-practicing for all of the next school year (that is, retired and receiving a pension
effective July 1), and you
have been payroll deducted for the next school year, you may request a refund of some or all of your annual
fee. The appropriate Non-Practising Undertaking Form (Retired) must be received at the College by June 30 of this year to qualify for the refund.
Certificate holders who are retired as of July 1, but are
employed as a TOC or using their designation as a BCCT certificate holder to
accept employment in BC must pay the practising fee of $90.
The College thanks you for your dedication to teaching. Enjoy your retirement!
Relinquishment
No longer need or want your certificate? If you do not pay your annual certificate
fee, your certificate will be automatically cancelled on November 1 for non-payment
of fees. If you wish to relinquish your certificate because you will not be teaching
again in BC, please complete a Notice of
Relinquishment, and return it to the College.
The College would urge members who are considering relinquishment to think
carefully about their choice as reapplying for a new certificate is a lengthy and
expensive process if you ever wish to return to teaching in British Columbia.
For teachers who are retiring and will be on a pension there is a $0 fee option
in order to keep your certificate, as well as a non-practising category for
others.
