Fee Information

Your Annual Certificate fee must be paid by June 30 in order to retain a valid teaching certificate and avoid a penalty. Payments made after June 30 will be subject to a late fee of $30. Your certificate will be cancelled if your annual certificate fee is not paid by October 31.

Employed in BC, either in K-12 system or in related position for which a College certificate was used to gain employment. The full practising fee of $90, once paid, applies to the entire certificate year. The College will issue to you a Practising Membership Card.

PRACTISING ON LTD

Please note: If you are working less than 0.4FTE and are on long-term disability and receiving benefits from Great West Life, contact the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation to ensure that your name is on the list it will forward to the College. If you are not receiving benefits from Great West Life please provide the College with current documentation supporting your LTD status. You will also be required to complete the Long Term Disability Statement form. In June, check the College’s public register to verify that you are a practising member for the next certificate year. Your fee is $0 and you do not need to proceed with online payment.
 
3. NON-PRACTISING $45

Not employed in BC as described in Category 1 above, but not on a pension. Must complete online Non-practising Undertaking (Non-Retired) form before June 30. The College will issue to you a Non-practising Certificate Holder’s Card.
 
4. NON-PRACTISING ON PENSION $0

Collecting pension related to teaching. Must complete online Non-practising Undertaking (Retired) form before June 30. The College will issue to you a Non-practising Certificate Holder’s Card.
 

Preferred Payment Methods

  1. Pay online via credit card: visit the Members Area to pay online.
  2. Payroll Deduction: confirm or arrange your payroll deduction with your employer.
  3. Other payment method: cheque - include your certificate number on the back and bring or mail it to the College. Post-dated cheques will not be accepted.

Payment Deadlines

April 1: Annual certificate fee notice mailed and online fee payment available.
June 30: Last day to pay annual certificate fees without penalty.
July 1: Certificate suspended for non-payment of fees. Renewal of certificate requires payment of the annual certificate fee and a late fee of $30 payable until October 31.
November 1: Certificate cancelled for non-payment of fees. Reinstatement requires payment of $410 and completion of a reinstatement application.
